MLL 2012 Mock Draft

MLLもいよいよ再来週に準決勝決勝で、2月のNCAA開幕以来約半年間続いた今年のラクロスシーズンももうすぐ終わりを告げる。

ILにESPNの解説者で元HopkinsのAll American Goalie Quint Kessenich氏（あのシュッとしたビジュアルの声の高い人）が、ちと早いが、来年一月のNCAA開幕前に行われるMLLドラフトの予想を書いていた。

個人的にも非常に興味があったこともあり紹介。

特に今年卒業した4年生、現在のMLLのルーキー達は明らかなタレント密集学年。その次の代ということで、多少影に隠れていた面も否めない。6巡目指名まで活躍する選手がいる今年と違い、明らかに層は薄い。

が、何人かキラリと光る人材がいるのは確か。

そして、今年の例年との大きな違いは、新規参入する2チーム、Charlotte HoundsとColumbus Machineが優先的にドラフト指名権を持っているという点。一番いい2選手がそれらのチームに行くというのは大きい。

The 2012 MLL Draft will take place on Jan. 13 in Philadelphia.

1. Rob Pannell, Cornell attack - The Big Red's field general becomes the foundation of the Columbus Machine franchise...or the native Long Islander gets dealt to the Lizards in a blockbuster trade. Pannell projects to be a perennial All-Star as a pro.

• 去年はやれサイズが足りんなどと申し上げてしまったが、今シーズンが終わって、平謝りに謝りたい。この人は間違いなくMLLの歴史に残るATになる。

2. Steele Stanwick, Virginia attack - The Tewaraton winning quarterback will become the offensive leader in Charlotte...or the native Baltimorean gets dealt to Chesapeake in a mammoth deal for multiple players. The Cavalier projects to be a perennial All-Star.

• ただ、こちらはまだ僕も完全に納得してない。
• NCAAでは間違いなく2番目の選手。すばらしい大学ラクロスの選手。が、MLLで本当に行けるか？身体能力が一歩落ちる。もちろんバランスが取れてる。思ったよりは抜ける。そして下半身が安定してるので、意外とシュートまで行く。そして何と言ってもラクロス頭が最高。
• が、MLLで通用するかね？今ATでMLLで出てる選手でStanwickより小さくて身体能力低い選手いないでしょ？あ、NatsのKeoghとJamiesonか。でもあの二人はニッチセグメントだからな…
• でも、新チームの核としてチームを作っていくとすると話は別。キャプテンシーを発揮してQBとして活躍するはず。

3. Mike Manley, Duke defense - Manley redshirted the 2011 season after ACL surgery. ACC defenders fair well in MLL...if you can cover the ACC's best, you can play in the pro league. Manley should be a starter from day one.

4. Tyler Fiorito, Princeton goalie - The lefty will be an attractive pick for either of the expansion teams in Round 2, if he is still on the board. Fiorito put up excellent stats in 2011 behind a team that was held together with duct tape. I believe that he is one of the top eight goalies on the planet right now.

5. Mark Matthews, Denver attack - The lefty winger's stock soared with national attention and Final Four appearance. The Canadian is a no-brainer target for the expansion franchises. The question is who else needs a lefty attackman?

• この人がねー。あなどれんですよね。ゲロうまだからな…Canadian。

6. Chad Weidmaier, Princeton defense - Weidmaier may be the top cover defender in the nation. This Tiger should be an immediate starter in the MLL and has the proper combination of speed/power in his holds and a nastiness that's necessary to be successful against the big boys.

• もうちょっとこの辺から格落ちしてくる感じが否めない。去年に比べると。WeidmaierはすばらしいDFだが、インパクト感が一歩落ちるんだよなー。

7. CJ Costabile, Duke LSM - This LSM offers versatility with his ability to faceoff, push the tempo in transition and garner loose balls. He will have to work on his one-on-one defense to matchup with the games elite midfield dodgers like Paul Rabil, Ben Hunt, Max Seibald and Stephen Peyser.

8. Justin Turri, Duke midfield - The prototypical ACC midfielder can dodge a shorty and score left handed. A mid-season ankle injury had him playing less than 100% in the playoffs, and he lacked the ability to explode and separate. Turri has an excellent mid-range shot off of step-down looks. Turri will step into a MLL team's five-or-six-man midfield rotation immediately.

• うん。Turriはタイトないい選手。MLLでもそこそこ活躍する気がする。同じくDukeの先輩Rossが今Bostonでブレークってるように。

9. Roy Lang, Cornell midfield - The lanky lefty's offensive production skyrocketed in 2011. The California product is lethal when running in transition from defense to offense, but he tends to force the action a bit too much sometimes and must cut down his turnovers. Lang is an attractive draft pick because he is an accomplished defender.

• Langが楽しみだなー。凄い勢いで成長してるCalifornia kid。なんかどうなるかわからんぶっ飛び感というか、ちょっとChapman - DenverのConor Martin感がある。

10. Colin Briggs, Virginia Midfield - His 2011 production was superb, but he rarely drew the pole. Briggs has to work on his left hand. The UVA speedster is sudden, can penetrate against shorties and is poised for an All-American senior season.

13. Chris Boland, Johns Hopkins attack

• そんなMLLで上位指名されるほど凄いっすかね？彼。やはり去年に比べると一段落ちるなー。

14. Kevin Drew, Syracuse defensive midfielder

• 19番の体力無尽蔵の彼。彼とかもDFMFだからそこまで目立ってないけど、明らかにサイズと身体能力はMLLクラス。バスケ出身のDFフットワークと足腰。定着するだろうなー。

15. Kevin Cunningham, Villanova attack
16. Chris Bocklet, Virginia attack

• 意外とクリース専門のエキスパートとして居場所見つけちゃったりして、しかももしいいフィーダー（Ned Crottyとか）と組めちゃった場合、結構バシバシ点取っちゃったりして。ありえる。

17. Joe Cummings, Maryland midfield/attack
18. Matthew Mackrides, Penn State attack
19. Carter Bender, Hartford attack
20. Mark Manos, Drexel goalie

• 去年のKaralunas状態というか、凄いらしいって話はちょくちょく見るが、いかんせんDrexelなんぞにいるので、とんと見かけない。Sasquatch（雪男／未確認生物）状態。
